Highligths

 

In response to the growing need for information regarding Covid-19 and to facilitate research and teaching activities in the Coronavirus emergency period, some publishers are making  freely available contents and tools usually accessible only under subscription. These resources are in addition to those already available in open access.
This page, constantly updated, highlights the main initiatives, without favoring any editorial group, producer or content aggregator.

Most of the resources can be consulted off-campus using the Auth-Proxy service or the University Single Sign On authentication.

 

OpenEdition

Extended access to OpenEdition Books and OpenEdition Journals content during the pandemic containment period.

OAPEN

OAPEN (Open Access Publishing in European Networks) Library has recently moved to a new DSpace platform, which offers new browsing options based on license or publication type (book or chapters).

De Gruyter

Until 30/06/2020 De Gruyter removes journal access control to its collections.

EBSCOhost

Until 30/06/2020 EBSCOhost has extended the access to some versions of the following dabases:
Business Source Ultimate (current subscription: Business Source Complete), with a direct link from the Unipd Library Catalogue to each title on the publisher’s website.
Historical Abstracts with Full Text (current subscription: Historical Abstracts), with a direct link from the Unipd Library Catalogue to each title on the publisher’s website.
Sociology Source Ultimate (current subscription: SocINDEX with Full Text), with a direct link from the Unipd Library Catalogue to each title on the publisher’s website.
RILM Abstracts of Music Literature with Full Text (current subscription: RILM Abstracts of Music Literature).

Annual Reviews: backfiles are freely available

Until 15/06/2020 Annual Reviews removes journal access control to its catalogue, and also to its backfiles.

Biblioteca Braidense - Music Division/Music Library Collection

Braidense Library lists some free music digital resources on the Music Division webpage.

BIZ - Biblioteca Italiana Zanichelli: unlimited-users access

Ubidictionary has upgraded the online access to Biblioteca Italiana Zanichelli: it will be available for an unlimited number of simultaneous users until 30/06/2020.

Bloomsbury Collections

Institutional users can access more than 4,000 multidisciplinary eBooks from Bloomsbury Collections until 30 June 2020.

Brepols Complete eBook Collection

The agreement for the free access to the collection is under revision: the platform provides access to more than 1,600 Monographs & Miscellany volumes published until 2017, across a broad range of humanities disciplines. Online reading only, download is not allowed. Brepols includes In Principio: this database allows simultaneous access up to 3 users.

Cambridge University Press

Free access to some of the contents included on the platform Cambridge Core until 30 June 2020. These are the main resources:

Elsevier ScienceDirect Textbooks

Institutional users can access the entire eBooks collection via ScienceDirect platform until 31 Augurst 2020. Access available to more than 36,000 monographs, all book series, encyclopedias, handbooks and textbooks published since 1960. Title list here.

Harvard Business Review via EbscoHost

Harvard Business Review Collection directly available via EbscoHost until 31 May 2020. The collection includes the complete eBook catalogue: 400 monographs plus newly published e-books and seminal works and more than 150 article compilations included in the HBR Classics series.

Internet Archive: National Emergency Library

Internet Archive provides free access to more than 1.4 million digitalized books on National Emergency Library.

More than 2 million free digital resources belonging to the ReteINDACO digital library are universally accessible on ioleggodigitale.it. Registration is not required.
#ioleggodigitale has been realized by ICCU and DM Cultura.

JoVE

JoVE, the Journal of Visualized Experiments, is a peer reviewed scientific video journal publishing texts and videos of scientific experiments realized from the top laboratories around the globe.
Free access to all JoVE Education videos until 15 June 2020. The collection is constantly updated and includes coronavirus focused contents.

ProjectMUSE: free access to eBooks and eJournals

ProjectMUSE provides a list of publishers opening up their eBooks and eJournals catalogues. Each publisher designates the specific content and for how long it will be freely available on MUSE. The participating publishers list is updated on daily basis.

Proquest: Ebooks

ProQuest has partnered with more than 50 publisher imprints to support libraries in providing unlimited access to Ebook Central holdings at no extra charge.

Ubidictionary: Zanichelli and Oxford University Press dictionaries

The entire Zanichelli catalogue of bilingual and technical dictionaries and the Oxford University Press Oxford Dictionary of English, Oxford Dictionary of Economics and Oxford Dictionary of Business and Management are available to institutional users: no restrictions in case of simultaneous users until 30 June 2020.
