Logbook
Update of September 14th
Today a new tool is available to search all the bibliographic resources offered by the University Library System:
GalileoDiscovery is a simple, intuitive and fast tool, which allows one to find and consult all information contents, both in paper and electronic format, made available to users by the libraries of the University of Padua.
GalileoDiscovery replaces the current online catalogue, AIRE Portal and Capere; it constitutes a single point of access not only to books and journals but also to articles inside databases, research products, theses, images, audiovisuals, technical reports, statistical data, websites, patents, scores, papers. If the record is in electronic format, it is possible to consult it directly both on-campus and off-campus through the Auth-proxy service.
GalileoDiscovery can be interrogated from computers, smartphones and tablets, and allows one to know in real time the availability of books from University libraries and affiliated libraries, such as Padova City Library System, Biblioteca Universitaria and many others.

Loan of books for students, staff and citizens (compulsory booking)
The book loan and return service are activated for students enrolled in the University and for citizens in possession of the library card issued before the emergency period (March 12).
Therefore, these types of users can take advantage of a "take away" service (i.e. without staying in the library premises for consultation and study) for book loans with the compulsory booking of volumes through the online catalogue of the Padua Library System (OPAC).
Instructions for users
- Students and citizens can book the University's books through the Online Catalogue.
- Once the availability of the desired volume has been verified through the Catalogue and the library of the University that owns it has been identified, the volume can be requested using the "Book" button.
- In order to confirm the reservation, the user must authenticate with a login and password (registration number and tax code for students, library card number and tax code for external users).
- As soon as the request is processed by the library staff, an email will be sent to the user to advise that the book is available to her/him at the library for a period of 8 days.
- Access to the University spaces is restricted, therefore before going to the library the user must necessarily make a reservation through the Affluences app. The Affluences mobile app is free, ad-free and freely downloadable from the App Store and Google Play.
The booking option has been set up in the Affluences app with channels differentiated according to the type of user.
External users have been destined for a reduced time slot and the effective possession of the external user card issued by the University Library System before 12 March 2020 is verified.
The reservation must be made at least 10 hours in advance.
Warning! Before going to the library, it is necessary to fill out the Declaration for access to University structures.
Off-site students
Remember that:
- the return of the volumes received on loan can also be made by mail
- the interlibrary loan service is available at the national level to obtain books on loan: just go to the nearest library
